1908 Otis-Fensom Elevator

Congratulations to Mark Ockwell and the KJA Team for an Honourable Mention by Heritage Toronto at their Annual Awards Ceremony on October 28th, 2019 for the restoration of the 1908 Otis-Fensom elevator in the Birkbeck Building at 10 Adelaide Street East, the home of Ontario Heritage Trust. It was one of eleven projects nominated by Heritage Toronto in the category of building conservation and craftsmanship. The Birkbeck Elevator project achieved an Award of Merit, for returning this archaic, but much-loved and still used machine, to its working standard.

Mark and the KJA Team assembled and coordinated the experts needed to repair and restore the electro-mechanical components to as-new condition, source rare replacement parts, and custom-build new parts where necessary. KJA was proud to be involved in preserving our Ontario heritage.
